I've been doing this software thing for a long time. My claim to fame is being the original author of twm. It originally stood for Tom's Window Manager
but was renamed to the Tab Window Manager when the X Consortium became the owner of it back in 1989.
I started it in 1987 and it was my first X program. What am I doing these days?
I'm currently employed by Regulatory DataCorp (RDC) where I'm managing technology and trying to write a little code.
Papers and presentations:
An Overview of twm (Tom's Window Manager) - Xhibition '89 Conference Proceedings
swm: An X Window Manager Shell - USENIX 1990 Conference Proceedings
Real World Products And Profiles - Lessons Learned From Complex Industries - atgOpen 2001
Patents I had a hand in:
US05933142: User-controllable persistent browser display pages
US6148298: System and method for aggregating distributed data
Some other recent events:
• An interview I gave to LinuxPlanet, February 2001
• That interview bubbled to the home page of Slashdot
